This is a translational research study that describes the deployment of a flexible nine-channel photodetection probe into the spinal canals of six cadaver dogs after hemilaminectomy, and its use to measure the irradiance at several sites along the thoracic to lumbar segment of the interior spinal canal resulting from skin surface illumination at 980 nm under varied conditions.
