Signalment
Canine, m/n, Labrador Retriever, "Douglas"

History
The patient initially presented with a suspected CCL injury to the left pelvic limb, displaying a 5/5 lameness after exercise. After diagnosis below as made, and oral medications did not yield any improvements, a pantarsal arthrodesis was discussed. However, the decision was made to try PRP first as a possible alternative.

Diagnostics and Exam Findings
The left tarsus showed a firm bony thickening, with crepitus on joint flexion and extension. Radiographs identified degeneration of the medical talar ridge and secondary osteoarthritis. Arthrocentesis revealed degenerative arthropathy and an end-stage OCD lesion was suspected to be present.

PRP Treatment
1 ml of PRP was injected into the left tarsal joint

Laser Treatment
Tarsal joint was treated with fluence of 4 J/cm2

Frequency of Treatment
The patient received a single injection of PRP. PBMt was started two weeks after PRP injection and was eventually reduced to a monthly maintenance treatment.

Other Treatments
Flexadin, paracetamol, and gabapentin. A trial course of grapiprant was also initiated.

Comments
The patient's marked improvement was PRP therapy prevented the need for surgical intervention.
