A rat model of induced tendonitis was used to evaluate the effect of laser therapy on inflammatory signaling.   The laser group had significantly lower mRNA for IL-6, COX-2 and TGF-β than control animals in both acute and chronic phases.  Laser therapy significantly reduced mRNA TNF-α only at the chronic phase. Laser therapy is effective for the reduction of mRNA expression for pro-inflammatory mediators.
