Heather Owen and her husband, Dustin, founded Animal Acupuncture, LLC in October 2008. Their goal was to increase access to integrative animal health services to improve pets’ quality of life. The response from pet owners was overwhelming, allowing Dr. Owen to expand her practice to include sports medicine and rehabilitation. In 2018, they expanded the name from Animal Acupuncture to Animal Acupuncture and Canine Sports Medicine Facility as the scope of the practice continued to evolve. They moved into their permanent location in 2018 and represent Oklahoma as the only freestanding rehabilitation and sports medicine practice in the state.
Dr. Owen has been invited to teach internationally, co-authored a shockwave manual, and has written numerous white papers regarding the efficacy of shockwave therapy. She speaks for and represents Companion Animal Health as well as for Elevation Medical, Inc. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family. Dr. Owen has four beautiful children and six fur children that keep her busy and entertained in her free time.
