Canine, 5 y/o, MN, American Staffordshire Terrier, "Bobo"
History
At four months of age a rescue diagnosed renal disease from suspected antifreeze toxicity. At six months old his Creatinine was 2.5 mg/dL. This level remained stable until he was about four years old when his Creatinine climbed to 3.8 mg/dL and has been increasing since. He was a happy sweet boy with episodes of lethargy.
Diagnostics and Exam Findings
At five years old he developed diarrhea, stopped eating, and his Creatinine spiked to 8.8 mg/dL. Supportive treatment was started as the owners were leaving the country. At their return laser treatment was started as hospice care while the owners decided how to proceed. After two weeks of laser treatment Bobo was his normal happy self. His Creatinine was 7.2 mg/dL but he was eating well and felt better.
Laser Treatment Details
The Urinary Tract Disorder Protocol using 2250 joules at 10W was applied on contact, repeated once and applied over the right cranial abdomen, right side, left caudal abdomen and left side.
Frequency of Treatment
Twice weekly.
Other Treatments
At initial diagnosis Hill’s k/d food was started. Currently he receives nausea medication, daily subcutaneous fluids, a homemade renal diet, and aluminum hydroxide.
Comments
The owners truly believe the laser treatment (and my assistant) gave them their dog back.
