Treatment Details
Class IV laser therapy at 10 J/cm2  ~ 6000J/Leg 

Frequency of Treatments
Laser administered every day for 3 consecutive days then every other day for the duration of treatment

Other Treatments
Baytril, nsaid and ulcer medication, hyperbaric oxygen therapy daily for 2 weeks then 3 times weekly for 3 weeks then twice weekly for the remaining 7 weeks

 

Presentation- February 20. All photos of right rear leg.

 

April 2. 40 Days Post-Injury

Swelling throughout metatarsus. Two sequestra: Medial: 3.3cm; Lateral: 9.4cm. Plan was surgery after the two wounds were healed, then continue HBOT and laser.

 

May 8. 56 Days Post-Injury

Slight swelling on lateral side. Medial sequestra gone. Lateral sequestra 2.6cm. Plan: Surgery on hold. Continued HBOT and laser. On 5/18 wounds almost completely healed and salt water spa treatment was initiated. 

 

May 18. 66 Days Post-Injury

Swelling gone Both sequestra completely reabsorbed. Plan: Off medications. Laser 2x per week until patient is picked up.

 

June 2: 80 Days Post-Injury

Resolution. Returned to South Carolina. Wounds were healed with minimal scarring and loss of function. Returned to training and has had no further problems as of September 20.
