Thanksgiving Safety Tips for Pet Owners
 
With this major food holiday just two days away, this is a good time to remind your pet owners about pet safety with these delicious meals. Share this list of holiday favorites that can be dangerous for dogs and cats to help cut down on unnecessary and painful GI visits this weekend:
 
Pet-Friendly Food:
 -->Plain, cooked turkey (no seasoning, skin, or bones)
-->Cranberries (fresh or dried)
-->Plain sweet potatoes (no sugar or marshmallows)
-->Steamed green beans (no butter or seasoning)
-->Canned or cooked pumpkin (unsweetened, no spices)
-->Corn (not the cob)
-->Apples (no core or seeds)
 
Food to Avoid:
-->Turkey skin, drippings, and bones (can splinter and cause injuries)
-->Ham
-->Stuffing and gravy (often contains onions, garlic, or excess fat)
-->Raw potatoes
-->Garlic
-->Desserts (chocolate and xylitol are toxic)
-->Fatty foods (can upset their stomach or cause pancreatitis)
